The Sciences and Arts of the Holy Quran

E-mail Print PDF

Beginning March 17th, 2010, come and join this class every Wednesday, held at the Islamic House and learn the fundamentals of Islam's holiest and most sacred book through a traditional, Islamic academic setting.

This class is taught by Brother AbdulKareem Zebdi, a long-time member of the Muslim community of Mountlake Terrace. Currently he is teaching a class on the seerah (the life of the Prophet peace be upon him) at Umar Al-Farooq Mosque.

The format of the class is quite different from a univeristy class setting. The entire class, including the teacher, sits down on the floor in a halaquah (literally means "ring" in Arabic), or a circle, with the brothers in the front and the sisters in the back. This method is quite similar to older, traditional Islamic educational formats that were long in use during the earlier stages of Islam.

Please note: Bring notebook and pens/pencils for note-taking. Material is very dense and taking down notes is highly recommended.
